The cabins of the AW139’s are quickly and easily reconfigured from medical transport to SAR, law enforcement or passenger / freight transport with minimal delays.

SAR configuration:

The AW139 SAR helicopter is specifically configured for complex emergency response operations, equipped and crewed to perform long-distance, offshore rescues at night. The aircraft is equipped with specialist equipment including SAR modes and auto hover (enabling the aircraft to descend at night and come to a hover using the 4-axis digital autopilot coupled with the SAR and Hover modes of the aircraft), dual hoist, Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) systems, search radars, and emergency floatation systems with deployable liferafts.

Law enforcement configuration:

StarFlight has provided 3 x AW139 for the Victorian Police Air Wing and is responsible for the ongoing support of these aircraft until 2030. Designed to exceed the rigorous standards of federal, state and local airborne law enforcement authorities, the twin engine AW139 provides the flexibility to perform a wide range of law enforcement / security missions, including tactical deployment, rescue, search, aerial observation, training, transport and public reassurance. The configuration provided to Victorian Police represents the most capable multirole AW139 configuration in the world today.

“Pushing the AW139 to see what it is capable of, has given us the confidence going forward, that for any operator now, we’ve got the techniques and procedures in place to be able to realise the full benefit of an AW139.” Mick Richmond, Technical Director, StarFlight

Passenger and freight transport configuration:

The AW139 helicopter is able to be reconfigured to support general utility operations such as passenger and freight transport.

“The AW139 is a proven helicopter, operating in more than 80 countries; they have spent millions of hours in the air. They’re versatile and suit the varying environments in which we work, and the wide-ranging missions undertaken by our teams.” - Ash van de Velde, CEO, StarFlight.
