Busy period for our StarFlight crews
28 January 2026
It’s been a busy period for our StarFlight crews who have taken to the skies for a number of rescues since launching in Tasmania.
This includes airlifting a male hiker aged in his 60s to hospital after he sustained a knee injury.
He set off an emergency beacon to inform of his position at a remote location on the West Coast. The aircrew was able to land the helicopter on sand dunes close to the scene before flying him to Royal Hobart Hospital for further treatment.
Other missions have included assisting to locate a woman in the Southwest National Park and airlifting a female hiker from Cradle Mountain after a snake bite.
